Got Questions?
Quick answers to the stuff climbers ask us most.
Big Sendies reads heart rate, active calories, and workout data from Apple HealthKit on your Apple Watch. If you accidentally denied these permissions when you first launched the watch app, the app can't access that data — but it's easy to fix.
To re-enable HealthKit permissions on iPhone:
Once enabled, start a new climbing session on your Apple Watch and your stats will appear in real time.
Nope! The Apple Watch app is totally optional. You can log climbs, track progress, and use all social features entirely from your iPhone. The watch just adds real-time heart rate, calorie tracking, and the convenience of logging from your wrist mid-session.
Yes — when you use the Apple Watch app to track a session, Big Sendies logs it as an official workout in Apple Health and the Fitness app (the Activity rings one). This means your climbing counts toward your Move, Exercise, and Stand goals.
Make sure HealthKit permissions are enabled (see above) for this to work correctly.
No worries — you can always add climbs manually after the fact. Open the app, go to your session history, and tap Add Climb on any past session to fill in any routes you missed. Your stats will update automatically.
Big Sendies is free to download and use. Core features — climb logging, progress tracking, Apple Watch support, and Apple Health sync — are all included at no cost. Have questions about what's included? Shoot us an email.
Our Story
Big Sendies started because every existing climbing app felt like it was built by someone who'd never clipped a draw. We wanted something that actually matched how climbers think — session-first, community-powered, and obsessed with the send.
We're a small team of climbers who ship fast and climb often. Every feature gets field-tested at real crags before it ever hits your phone. If it doesn't make the app better on the wall, it doesn't ship.
Whether you're projecting your first 5.10 or chasing a V10 in the gym, Big Sendies is built to grow with you.
